About Us

Mount Shepherd Retreat Center is a United Methodist ministry of the United Methodist Church.  We are located in the center of North Carolina.  Our mission is to be a Christ-centered place of welcome and warmth for growth, learning and fun. We provide quality outdoor Christian education and warm Christian hospitality in a beautiful and quiet setting for people of all denominations. Children, youth and adults visit Mount Shepherd Retreat Center throughout the year.

With 542 acres you and your group, depending upon age, safety conditions and weather, can do one or more of the following activities: climbing/rappelling tower, high ropes, canoeing, hiking, camping and cooking out, games, swimming, fishing, the observation tower, s'mores, basketball, crawl wall, and so much more more.

Mount Shepherd Retreat Center offers summer camp that attracts children and youth from around the region and across the state. However, we also offer facilities for you or your group in the fall, winter and spring to get away from it all and enjoy a weekend retreat on the grounds.
