Retreat Activities
Mount Shepherd offers a wide variety of activities for your group retreat. Whether you're looking for team-building experiences, outdoor adventures, or relaxing recreational options, we have something for everyone.
High Ropes Course
Our most popular activity is our high ropes challenge course. Constructed in 2016, this multi-level element pushes participants to their limits. Participants begin by climbing rope ladders, before having the opportunity to be challenged by 12 unique events. The dismount is a free fall device that decelerates jumpers to the ground.

Hiking
Mount Shepherd has several miles of hiking trails. Our most popular hike is to the top of Shepherd Mountain, the tallest point in the county, and the second highest peak of the Uwharrie Mountain chain. This 1.5 mile roundtrip hike features an observation tower, from which you can see much of the North Carolina piedmont. On a clear day you can see Pilot Mountain, Hanging Rock, and the Sauratown mountains, in addition to the cityscapes of Greensboro, Winston Salem, and High Point.
Fishing
Our pond is stocked with catfish, bass and brim. Guest groups are welcome to fish while they are here.
GaGa Ball
Gaga ball has quickly become the most competitive activity at Mount Shepherd. Step into the octagon for this dodgeball-based game. Games are fast-paced and engaging. Our Gaga "pit" is carpeted with synthetic turf.
Axe Throwing
Groups can build skills throwing hatchets at two wooden targets.
