Our summer staff are the heartbeat of our program. These exceptional individuals are highly trained and equipped to work with children. All of our summer staff undergo national background checks, interviews and reference checks. After they are hired, they participate in a multi-week training, as well as ongoing in-service trainings. The summer staff experience is challenging and rewarding.
Mount Shepherd is currently looking for passionate people who love kids, like to be outside, and have faith in Jesus Christ. We are seeking college-aged students who are willing to commit their summers.

Summer Staff Positions 2021
Summer Staff Counselor Summer Staff Counselors (SSC) are responsible for facilitating weekly camp activities and faith development for their assigned group of campers. Summer Staff Counselors work with day camp, resident (over-night) camp, and special needs camps. Summer Staff Counselors live in the cabins with their assigned campers. Age group assignments rotate weekly. Must be 18+ to apply.
Kitchen Staff Kitchen staff assist the kitchen director in preparing, serving, and cleaning up for all meal times. The kitchen staff play an important role in ensuring that our campers are being fed. Meal times are such an important time for community building here at camp!
Lifeguard Lifeguards are responsible for ensuring the safety of all campers, staff, and guests. Here at Mount Shepherd we have a pool and a lake. Lifeguard training is offered before camp starts for all lifeguards.
Creative Arts Coordinator The Creative Arts Coordinator is responsible for developing, facilitating, and overseeing Camp Mount Shepherd’s Arts & Crafts programs for all campers and capturing exciting moments at camp through the lens of a camera. This includes the supervision, guidance, and direction of campers and Summer Camp Staff in the Arts and Crafts area.
Head Lifeguard The Head Lifeguard is in charge of the general safety of campers and staff at the waterfront and pool. The Head Lifeguard is part of the support staff team—working under the direction of the Director, to ensure the general safety of campers and staff at the waterfront, to supervise the lifeguard team, and to oversee Mount Shepherd’s aquatics programs. Must be 18+ to apply.
Adventure Coordinator The Adventure Coordinator is responsible for leading backpacking and canoe trips with campers while also overseeing the adventure staff in their weekly and day to day tasks. They are also responsible for facilitating all of the high challenge courses and rock climbing elements, the low challenge course, and archery. This includes, the high ropes course, climbing wall, zip line, water zip line, leap of faith, and all low rope initiatives. The Adventure Coordinator is considered a support staff role. This means, the coordinator will specialize in high challenge courses, rock climbing elements, backpacking, and swiftwater in order to support the Summer Staff Counselors and campers. Facilitation schedules rotate on a daily basis. Must be 18+ to apply.
Program Intern The Program Intern position is geared towards, but not limited to, college students needing internship credit. The Program Intern position is designed to equip you with a deeper understanding of Christ-centered leadership within a Christian camp environment. This Internship Program is intended to challenge the intern spiritually, vocationally, and personally while gaining practical work and ministry experiences. This occurs through behind the scenes work, interactions with campers and guests, and mentoring relationships. Responsibilities will include: staff and camper safety, assisting in the preparation of materials for camps, assisting in crafts, games, hikes, behavior management and other camp activities, assisting in the set-up, clean up, day camps as well as other clerical duties such as filing, data entry, research and more.
