CIT Staff Application

Our Counselor in Training program is a three-week, hands-on leadership experience to help develop future leaders at camp, within church, and within the world. This program is for rising 10th-12th graders. CITs focus on leadership development,  service to camp, learning about themselves, faith development, working with others, and leading children. Our CIT program is distinctly divided into two different levels: CIT Level 1 Program + CIT Level 2 Program 


Through the Level 1 program they not only learn about being a counselor but the importance of hard work, of developing strengths and preparing for the future. Week one of the program will be focused on personnel leadership development, specifically on what skills and strengths each individual possesses and how they might be able to work. on topics such as child development, behavioral management skills, faith formation and discipleship. This training will prepare them for their next two week of the program where they will be interacting with campers. One week will be spent as a counselor and the other will be in a support staff role. 

CIT 1 PRogram

Our traditional CIT Program!

Session Dates: June 9- 28 (Housing will not provided for CIT's Friday and Saturday Nights during the 3-week Session)

​Check-In Time:  All check-in times are between 3-5 pm on Sunday.

​Check-Out Time: Friday from 1-3 pm.
If you need to pick-up or drop-off campers at another time, please call the camp office at 336-629-4085 to discuss your options.

CIT 2 Program

CIT Level 2 is specifically designed for CIT's who have already completed a year of our Level 1 program. The first week of our level 2 program is a week of camp training!

+2 Additional weeks of service assigned at the discretion of the Program Director (Weeks of service will take place during Traditional weeks of camp during June + July.)

As a part of our mission, Mount Shepherd is committed to making camp possible for ALL children, regardless of financial resources. We encourage camp families to reach out to their local church to request financial support. The application for scholarships must be completed while registering your camper. Once your camper is successfully registered your scholarship application will be processed. Please allow 7 business days. Scholarship applications will not begin being processed until February 15, 2023.
