Our summer staff are the heartbeat of our program. Our summer staff consist of exceptional individuals that are highly trained and equipped to work with children. All of our summer staff undergo national background checks, interviews and reference checks. After they are hired, they participate in a multi-week training, as well as ongoing in-service trainings. Our goal is not only to find out if you are the best fit for camp, but also to ensure that Camp Mount Shepherd is the best fit for you.

Arts and Crafts Coordinator The Arts and Crafts Coordinator is responsible for developing, facilitating, and overseeing Camp Mount Shepherd’s Arts & Crafts programs for all campers. This includes the supervision, guidance, and direction of campers and Counselors in the Arts and Crafts area. This position allows for creativity to flourish and get camper's excited about arts! Camp Counselor Camp Counselors are responsible for facilitating weekly camp activities and faith development for their assigned group of campers. Camp Counselors work with day camp, resident (over-night) camp, and special needs camps and live in the cabins with their assigned campers. Age group assignments rotate weekly.
Day Camp Director The Day Camp Director is responsible for developing, facilitating, and overseeing the Elementary and Middle school Day Camp programs including the supervision, guidance of campers, and parent communication. Must be 20+ to apply.
Head Counselor The Head Counselor is responsible for assisting with program development, coordination, management and implementation of overnight summer camp programs. They would work closely with the counselor staff to provide support and assist with campers. The head counselor will get the opportunity to interact with all campers and provide fun programs for them. Must be 20+ to apply.
Head Lifeguard The Head Lifeguard is in charge of the general safety of campers and staff at the waterfront and pool. The Head Lifeguard is part of the support staff team—working under the direction of the Director, to ensure the general safety of campers and staff at the waterfront, to supervise the lifeguard team, and to oversee Mount Shepherd’s aquatics programs. Must be 18+ to apply.
Kitchen Staff Kitchen staff assist the kitchen director in preparing, serving, and cleaning up for all meal times. The kitchen staff play an important role in ensuring that our campers are being fed. Meal times are such an important time for community building here at camp!
Lifeguard Lifeguards are responsible for ensuring the safety of all campers, staff, and guests. Here at Mount Shepherd we have a pool and a lake. Lifeguard training is offered before camp starts for all lifeguards.
Office Assistant The office assistant position is a vital role to our summer staff. They will work in the office and camp store helping with organization of the summer camp program.
Photography & Marketing The photography and marketing position will be working behind a camera lens capturing all the exciting adventure that happen at camp. This position will also interact with our marketing platforms.
Program Staff Program staff are permanent support staff that spend their days running ropes course, helping in the kitchen, providing breaks to camp counselors and more. Program staff are required to be trained in running our ropes courses and our archery range. They have the option to get trained as a lifeguard. Must be 18+ to apply in accordance with NC Laws.
Spiritual Development Coordinator The spiritual development coordinator is responsible for encouraging spiritual growth for our campers and staff. They will have the opportunity to lead games, activities, and devotions that will offer opportunities for campers to grow closer to God. The Spiritual Development Coordinator will be responsible for communication with all pastors of the week and they will be in charge of planning all camp wide campfire worship times.
